Colorado Mountain College graduates one of its largest classes ever

Special to the Post Independent Graduates of CMC s Roaring Fork campuses line up before the start of commencement on Saturday. Photo by Stephanie Stocking Commencement at Colorado Mountain College is always a special day, but this year was different. And, not different because students wore masks or because they had to physically distance. Different, in that commencement was not just a fleeting moment of joy. It was a triumphant celebration for hundreds of students who overcame hardship after hardship to get to this point. Students, who in the face of a devastating pandemic, ruthless wildfires and divisive civil unrest, had the courage to push forward and make this one of the largest graduating classes in the history of Colorado Mountain College.

Private schools see increased interest from parents amid pandemic

Private schools see increased interest from parents amid pandemic and last updated 2021-04-22 22:33:02-04 As the school year wraps up, parents make decisions on where their child might go to school next year. Education leaders are seeing an increasing interest in private schools. “We have higher numbers than we’ve had in the past several years in both elementary and middle schools, we’re looking at possibly adding a couple of classrooms in both elementary and 7th and 8th grade, Valerie Hamlin, a parent, and Director of Marketing at Denver Academy, private school, said. “I think a lot of that is because those kids really need hands-on learning from teachers, especially in person, and we can provide that.”
