PANAMA CITY Gulf Coast State College s Dental Hygiene Program is offering free dental exams this week to children 3 to 17 years old.
The annual event, called Kidz Klinic, began on Monday and will continue through Thursday. The event held in February during National Children s Dental Health Month to educate children on the importance of dental hygiene is serving an even greater need this year because of job losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers said. With people losing their jobs and losing their insurance . this is just another avenue for parents or grandparents to bring their children up and get an exam or X-rays at no charge, said Miranda Stewart, the college s Dental Hygiene Program coordinator. In the past, we ve had some of the dental buses go to the schools. If those children are not in school and they re doing remote learning or quarantining, they might not be able to attend their dental appointment.
