i think we ve been behind on the digital ad score. it committed $50 million in digital advertise and priorities is a group you work for. a democratic superpac. for the last three or four cycles we ve seen republicans investing more online and democrats still spending too much on television instead of investing where young people and people of color are getting their news and information which is online. we are outspending in many cases republicans on the air, on television. we are building unprecedented ground operations in places like florida where it has been historically difficult to do so. this is one glaring example where democrats need to get it together and need to invest now as we head into the early vote period. this is one thing that beto o rourke is use something of his $38 million to do. investing in google ads. what is your take on what they re doing down in texas. is he does he have a long-term future as a potential 2020 contender or eventual
records and never had a clear message. today, democrats have a new excuse. clinton actually did have a clear message but progressives from the so-called obama coalition rejected it. these obama voters at flipping the donald trump because he was better on the economy than clinton weighed down by those wall street speeches by the washington post reporting data from new focus groups conducted by the democratic super pac priorities usa show that in michigan and wisconsin, a shockingly large percentage of these obama-trump voters a side effect democrats economic policies will favor the wealthy. twice the percentage that said the same about trump. yet, adding to the confusion for democrats, form up vice president joe biden was in new hampshire over the weekend, but he insisted he is not a candidate in 2020 and he offered to yet another clinton s gender. this last election, hillary was at such a disadvantage, a double standard because she was a woman. beyond that, trump was pretty
opportunities to win, but drive our message across this country, because many people are going to be left behind by the policies of donald trump. you have the democratic super pac launching a series of web ads now, they have a message for president trump s voter base. let s take a listen to a clip from their most recent ad. here it is. we have to do health care first to pick up additional money so we get great tax reform. great for who? this is not what we were promised. i am your voice! who does he really care about? tell congress don t let trump sell us out. joel, do you think it s more important that the democrats figure out their own message and put that out there instead of having an anti-trump message? well, look, you ve got republicans in control of the white house and congress right now, and that means they are driving the agenda every day. i think with democrats, have to do is be very strong voiced opposition to issues that we have been on the right side of
and they will vote for that candidate. so part of it is really trying to understand what are the issues that asian americans care about. many of the issues are the same issues most americans care about. they care about the economy, they care about the quality of life, but there are also unique concerns for this population. is this a population that s predominantly still immigrant, it is a population whose children are entering into higher education, so there s a concern about the quality of education. so i think there are issues that overlap with the general public but i think there are also issues that are specific in particular to this population that need to be addressed. yeah just the number i mean, 79% voter turnout when you re talking about millions of people going to the polls, that s extraordinary. paul and elena, thank you both for being with me so appreciate it. joining me now, democratic california congressman mike honda. congressman, good to see you. good to be here j
actions by congress influences the way asian americans are going to go towards. and as a population, they are not really tied to any one political party, which is interesting, and the growth is so important and the turnout. just almost 80% turnout, that s extraordinary. but the trend, jose is very very heavy democratic. we said that it s going to be about 78% in 2040. this past election it was 60% of the voting asian americans were democrats and about 28%, 38% were republicans, so it s growing from 31% in 1998 to 61%, so the trend is growing. a couple of things we have to look at though with our asian american population. since we are about 4% currently, 4% could be a marginal population of people overlooked but many elections have been won by 1% to 3%. that s right. that s right. that becomes a marginalized population that becomes a margin
