Cinco De Mayo is coming. Celebrate by supporting a Mexican restaurant

Cinco De Mayo is approaching, and we think one of the best ways to celebrate is by supporting a local Mexican restaurant, as well as taking time to learn about Mexican culture and heritage. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated annually on May 5 and commemorates the Mexican army s victory over French forces on May 5, 1862, in the Battle of Pueblo. Topeka is home to many Mexican restaurants, so you have plenty to choose from to celebrate. We chose El Mezcal as the place we want to give cheers to the day. El Mezcal, 511 S.W. Topeka Blvd. and 5301 S.W. 21st St., is a traditional Mexican restaurant that has everything from tacos, burritos and enchiladas to fajitas and quesadillas.

Wisconsin Restaurant Owner Starts Movement To Help Other Eateries

Wisconsin Restaurant Owner Starts Movement To Help Other Eateries There is no way you won t get emotional after reading this story. A Wisconsin restaurant owner has started a movement of sorts to help out other restaurants in his area amid the pandemic. The owner of a Mexican restaurant in Stevens Point is going viral right now for his movement. For months, he has been purchasing gift cards to other restaurants in his community in an effort to help businesses that are struggling because of COVID-19. From there, Adolfo, the restaurant owner, has been holding giveaways and contests to his following, offering up the gift cards to those that win the contests. Not only does he give away gift cards, but he also encourages this Facebook following to like and follow said businesses on their social media pages as another way to give back and spread the word.
