alter the deal or place new sanctions on iran which could essentially scrap the entire agreement. here in israel, israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu praised president trump for recognizing the flaws in the agreement. i m focused on the goal. the goal is to prevent iran from ever acquiring nuclear weapons, and you could achieve it either by fixing this bad deal or by nixing it. i don t particularly care which one, but it is the result that we want to have. now, not everyone here in israel agrees with the prime minister. former israeli prime minister is on the record here in the last few days and he is a known hawk on iran saying that he does not want to see the u.s. scrap the nuclear agreement with iran. his belief is that they need to stay in it. we ve also heard from european leaders and other israeli officials who they essentially want to see the u.s. and other countries that are part of this agreement focusing on iran s intercontinental ballistic missile program, which is
our decertifying the deal, decertifying iran is merely going to have everybody else ignore us and there s in way we re going to be able to control iran without everybody else being on our side and they are not. so decertifying the deal is going nowhere fast. you said it would be difficult to change but is it possible to at this stage renegotiate any part of that deal? unlikely without everybody else s concurrence. don t forget that our own allies supported this deal in the first place. we can t be alone, everybody else is going to have to support it too. and our allies are not going to support our getting out of the deal. that s not going to happen i don t think. colonel jack jacobs, thanks for joining me. would republicans prefer a president pence right now over the current commander in chief? we ll have some answers coming up next.
because the sanctions i m talking about when you bring up north korea, when you bring up china following through the sanction activity we imposed on north korea, that s a whole level of sanctions. i m talking about aggressive, significant sanctions that makes sure when these folks edge gauge in this behavior, there s pen taelts not only to themselves but their partners. you have to fundamentally ask the question are you going to stand with america or iran or north korea? that is the level of sanctions i m talking about. what is the impact you believe of the u.s. potentially withdrawing or decertifying is the term we re now using, this deal considering that both secretaries mattis and tillerson and many of the president s advisers and other sigteres here believe that iran is following and complying with this deal? i just don t see that.
nuclear deal for other reasons and people have to decide whether that s a good idea or bad idea. but if they impose sanctions that are because of simply reimposition, old sanctions, people will see what it is. kelly: before i let you go, the president is saying this is a bad deal and since becoming president, this is an even more bad deal, our allies are saying one thing, some people are concerned that because of his decertifying him we could be stand ago loan along with israel but the president says it s a bad deal, do you agree? i agree with secretary mattis and rex tillerson and national security adviser h.r. mcmaster who told the president that the agreement is in our national security interest. we have them in a box. that s a win for us, in my view.
