investigation into the shooting death of 18-year-old michael brown. nbc bay area s jay grey has the latest from ferguson. . reporter: the fog of tear gas and smoke canisters filled the air in ferguson again overnight. officers in tactical and riot gear squaring off with protesters for the fourth straight night, following the death of michael brown, the unarmed teenager shot and killed during a weekend confrontation with police. when this tragedy happened, this terrible, terrible tragedy of shooting this kid, unarmed, multiple times in broad daylight, it just sprung so much emotion. reporter: and anger from hundreds of protesters, demanding justice and answers. but the county chief of police says each night, the group has done much more than just march. the officers have been subject to assaults with rocks, bottles, and even gunfire directed at them. reporter: today, president obama talked about the controversy, urging both sides to stay calm. now s the time for he
