Warren Buffett: View: Warren Buffett and the myth of the 'Good Billionaire'

Synopsis There is no way to be a billionaire in America without taking advantage of a system predicated on cruelty, a system whose tax code and labor laws and regulatory apparatus prioritize your needs above most people’s. Reuters Good Billionaire Mr. Buffett has profited from Coca-Cola’s sugary drinks, Amazon’s union busting, Chevron’s oil drilling, Clayton Homes’s predatory loans and, as the country learned recently, the failure to tax billionaires on their wealth. Warren Buffett appears to be the safest kind of billionaire: the good kind. Mr. Buffett is neither Zuckerbergian messiah nor Musky provocateur, neither Bezosist space cadet nor Sacklerian undertaker. He is, or seems to be, quiet, humble, indifferent to money, philanthropic and critical of the system that allowed him to rise. Years ago, a proposed tax increase was named after him.

Investors looking to hear out legendary investors Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger s views first hand can log on to Yahoo Finance, the exclusive online host for the 2021 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting. The AGM event will take place in Los Angeles this time, and not Omaha. It would be all virtual with no attendance for the second year in row. Warren Buffett: Full text of Warren Buffett's annual letter to shareholders

Synopsis Wall Street loves the fees that deal-making generates, and the press loves the stories that colorful promoters provide, Buffett said. Charlie and I would be less than human if we did not feel a special kinship with our fifthbucket: the million-plus individual investors who simply trust us. Warren Buffett released his annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders on Saturday. Read the full text here: To the Shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway Inc: Berkshire earned $42.5 billion in 2020 according to generally accepted accounting principles (commonly called GAAP). The four components of that figure are $21.9 billion of operating earnings, $4.9 billion of realized capital gains, a $26.7 billion gain from an increase in the amount of net unrealized capital gains that exist in the stocks we hold and, finally, an $11 billion loss from a write-down in the value of a few subsidiary and affiliate businesses that we own. All items are stated on an after-tax basis.
