Locals earn degrees and academic honors

Many area students have recently earned college and graduate degrees plus academic honors from campuses across the United States. Below are students from the Poway and Rancho Bernardo area those whose schools have announced their achievements.
Steve Johnson of Poway was among the more than 300 graduates recognized during the virtual commencement ceremony at the University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences in December. Johnson received a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree. The campus is in Lexington, Kentucky.
Morgan Turpin of the Rancho Bernardo area qualified for the Fall 2020 Dean’s List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality GPA of 3.5, with no grade below a C. Approximately 55 percent of Belmont’s students qualified for the honor. The campus is in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bob Jones University students named to President’s List
GREENVILLE, SC The following students are among approximately 600 Bob Jones University students named to the President’s List for high academic achievement during the Fall 2020 semester.
To qualify for the President’s List, students must earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.
Deborah Reed is a Senior Elementary Education from Gallipolis.
Jonathan Young is a Senior Engineering from Gallipolis.

Frankel Makes Fall Semester Dean s List At Ohio Wesleyan University
Brandon Frankel, of Buffalo Grove, has been named to the 2020 fall semester Dean s List at Ohio Wesleyan University. To earn Dean s List recognition, Ohio Wesleyan students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes.
