ukraine. that s where ed lavandera is. there was an explosion there earlier today and a curfew is set to begin soon. what else is happening? it s been a rather active 36 hours here in odessa. one explosion happening on the southern edge of town. officials say there were no injuries. there s no reason to pandemic and everything in that situation is under control. yesterday we experienced more severe rounds of attacks in the overnight hours, there were three missile strikes on a military facility, ukrainian officials say several people were killed and wounded in that strike. and then there was a daytime strike that resulted in, we re told, no injuries. russian military officials are saying that the initial strike at the military facility was targeting russian foreign fighters here in ukraine, but we tried to get as close as we could to that scene yesterday. many of the residents there were skeptical of that claim, saying,
and just about 30 minutes ago, we heard another loud explosion, didn t sound particularly close inside the city, but it happened just outside and the first time since i ve been here and that i can remember there has been a daytime strike, and brianna, this also comes, we heard that strike just as we were hearing the news that here in the odesa ukrainian region, they are issuing a curfew that will go into place tomorrow night and last until monday morning and they re saying that they re making that announcement based on the attack at the train station we ve seen today in eastern ukraine. brianna? horrific pictures that we re seeing out of kramatorsk. thank you, ed. much of the suffering now coming the light as russian forces pulled back in the kyiv area. cnn s clarissa ward takes us to a city in northern ukraine that is in ruins.
