The zinc supplements can prevent mitochondrial damage in young egg and sperm cells, as well as enhance immunity against the virus. The research conducted by Wayne State University School of Medicine is published in the journal Reproductive Sciences. In addition to benefiting couples attempting to conceive during the pandemic, zinc supplementation of up to a maximum of 50 mg per day for all adults could be beneficial in enhancing immunity and in fighting COVID-19 infection.
