surprised me the wyoming governor, a democrat, dave freudenthal. we know the wyoming residents. they don t seem to be this angry all the time. maybe we have to be careful crossing pete williams. i know. wyoming, the wild west, i guess. anyway, interesting tlif yeah question. more wild than you realize. yeah. coming up, how broken is the u.s. senate? is it even broken at all? we go beyond the accusations of delay tactics and part sal politicians and ask what s working on capitol hill? but first, not a lot of people working at the white house right now. it s a time in august when a lot of folks are on vacation but for those who are there, soup of the day, tuscan chicken. any comment, chuck? enjoy that one, nick shapiro. he gets a soup to himself today. apparently. i ll get to find out the soup on air force one. i ll report it out later.
washington. i m chuck todd live here in los angeles. so let s get to the rundown. we ll start with the president. he s on the road. last night he did a fund-raiser here in california as you know. but he s not really doing anything else here in california. he s going to wake up and get on air force one and then spend a healthy chunk of the day in seattle, washington. it s day two of this five-state three-day swing that takes him literally coast to coast, east west, north, south. in seattle, holding a discussion with small business leaders and tout that small business tax credit bill that he s yet to get passed out of the house and senate. might be the one piece of business on the economy that does get done in september when these guys come back very briefly before going back on the campaign trail. the fact is the president s doing this trip primarily to raise money. raising a bunch of money for patty murray a u.s. senator in danger. when you look, savannah, at barbara boxer
