The Archdiocese of Jaro said the prelate got vaccinated on Monday, March 15.
“Last March 15, 2021, His Grace Most Rev. Jose Romeo O. Lazo, D.D., Archbishop of Jaro, got himself vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, as prescribed by physicians,” the Archdiocese of Jaro Commission on Social Communications said in their Facebook page.
“This is one means of preparing himself for the successive pastoral activities he will be undertaking in the Archdiocese of Jaro,” it further read.
Last January, Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, said they are willing to get vaccinated in public if it can help build confidence in the vaccine campaign.

Photo by Mark Perandos February 01, 2021 THE Davao City Government is considering the offer of Catholic bishops in the country in including church facilities as one of the city s Covid-19 vaccination sites, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Monday, February 1, 2021.
This came after Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President and Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles said they are willing to transform its church in the country as vaccination hubs once the vaccines will be ready for distribution. We can offer our church facilities to help in this massive and complicated and very challenging program of vaccination, Valles said in a virtual press conference conducted by CBCP.

The designation of Jubilee churches was among those discussed by the members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) during their virtual plenary assembly held January 26 to 27.
“We discussed about the Jubilee churches to be designated in each diocese, the opening of holy door in the cathedral and other activities,” CBCP president Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles said in a virtual press briefing Thursday.
“The Jubilee Year would open on April 4, Easter Sunday and will close on April 18, 2022 with the Second National Mission Congress in Cebu,” he added.
Since many of the faithful cannot be accommodated in church amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, Valles said parishes will have to be creative and look for other venues where to celebrate Mass.
