PETALING JAYA: Parliament will not convene during the period of the Emergency proclamation which ends on Aug 1, says Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said this was because the Cabinet had advised the Yang di-Pertuan Agong that Parliament would not be convened during the state of emergency.
“The Cabinet advised the Agong that there will be no Parliament sitting. That is the situation now, ” he told a press conference in Putrajaya yesterday.
Takiyuddin, who oversees matters involving the law, said the statement made by Istana Negara last week was to explain that there would be no Parliament sitting and any decision to convene a sitting must be made by the Cabinet.
