Smart lockdown imposed at 17 places in Haripur Peshawar December 24, 2020 HARIPUR: The district administration has imposed a smart lockdown at 17 different scattered areas of the Haripur district, official sources said on Wednesday. Following a recent surge in the corona positive cases, the district administration in consultation with the district health officer, Dr Saifullah Khalid, imposed a smart lockdown by deploying police and sealing the streets leading to the house from where the residents were tested positive for the virus. These localities, according to official sources, were 16 houses in Ghazi tehsil, 15 houses in Sirya village, 14 houses in Mohallah Kund Haripur City, eight houses in Muhallah Babu,12 houses in Pharhala village, 11 houses in Muhallah Peeran and 10 houses in Muhallah Sadaat of Mankraey village, four houses in Sera-e-Niamat Khan, one house in Banda Munir Khan, three houses in Banda Mian Pirdad, five houses in Muhallah Syedan Hattar, six houses in Dhend

He was 77 years old. Rahnaward Zaryab was born in 1944 in the Rika Khana area in Kabul.  Former President Hamid Karzai offered condolences over the death of veteran writer and author Rahnaward Zaryab. Karzai said Friday in a statement that late Zaryab dedicated his life to serve Afghanistan’s literature and left tens of literary works behind.

Acclaimed Afghan novelist laid to rest in Kabul

(Last Updated On: April 17, 2021) Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have signed a safety concept agreement to ensure the security of the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. According to Turkmenistan’s Trend news agency, the signing took place on April 15 during a meeting between representatives of the two countries. The Safety Concept is an important step in the timely implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project, including the development of a Safety Plan and Protocol, which are annexes to the Host Government Agreement, the foreign ministry’s report said. The parties exchanged views on the ongoing work on the TAPI gas pipeline construction project and they discussed the implementation of measures to be carried out by the end of August this year.

Big Loss for Persian Literature: Afghans React to Zaryab’s Death Reactions poured in following the death of well-known writer, novelist, journalist and literary scholar Rahnaward Zaryab who passed away in Kabul on Friday.     President Ashraf Ghani, Abdullah Abdullah, the head of High Council of National Reconciliation, former president Hamid Karzai and cultural dignitaries described Zaryab’s death a great loss for the country and the region.    “His death is a great loss,” said Karzai. “Rahnaward Zaryab contributed tirelessly towards the development of Afghanistan’s native literature and left behind tens of precious assets.”  “He was an irreplaceable culture figure and served the Afghan people for decades through his ideas, pen and writings,” said Abdullah.
