In recent years, the construction industry has been struggling with a major challenge: how to provide glass barriers for residential balconies above 18 metres. Changes to Building Regulations in 2018 effectively banned the use of laminated glass for residential balconies at height. Renowned balustrade provider Q-railing has now brought two products to market that fully solve this problem.
Safety concerns
Full-glass balconies and Juliet balconies in glass have long been a popular feature in designs for multistorey residential blocks. According to Darryl Holloway, architectural sales manager at Q-railing UK, ‘Not being able to work with glass barriers for residential high-rise caused much heartache.’
