The bridge opened exclusively for local residents Thursday but is expected to be open for booking to all tourists on Monday.

The record-breaking bridge measures 516 meters (or roughly 1,692 feet) long and is suspended 175 meters (574 feet) above a river. It s in the town of Arouca about an hour south of Porto in the UNESCO-recognized Arouca Geopark, an area famous for its nature tourism and outdoor activities.
Hidden between rock-strewn mountains covered with lush greenery and yellow flowers inside the Arouca Geopark in northern Portugal, the bridge hangs high above the River Paiva.

Now officially the world s longest pedestrian suspension bridge, 516 metre long bridge is now open but it s not for the faint-hearted.
The bridge, which is known as 516 Arouca, drapes 175 metres above River Paiva in northern Portugal. The bridge itself is hidden between mountains inside the UNESCO-recognised Arouca Geopark.
The bridge is located over an hour from Porto, and connects Aguieiras Waterfall and Paiva Gorge.
