Five to eight minutes after these officers entered the building they made contact and engaged with the suspect on the second floor of the building. I cant tell you how many shots a minute were being fired and in the police world anything more than three to five shots is a long gun battle. As the suspect was firing he was moving. They were returning fire and at one point the suspect was firing through the door and through the wall at the officers and then the firing stopped. They eventually breached a door, and when they breached the door the suspect was alive and taken into custody and first aid was immediately rendered to him. The 40yearold suspect Dewayne Craddock later died at a Virginia Beach hospital. Four other victims are still being hospitalized.
