Louis Police Officer has now been killed in a shootout. Police say the gunman ambushed one of their officers while his cruiser was beside him and someone shot the officer twice in his face. Thankerfthankfully the wrong way driver and the officer are okay. Reporter thats right, deiah. Atthis morning. That wrongway driver is expected to be okay as well. Now investigators are left to figure out exactly what happened at this intersection. We were here at the intersection of east kennedy and hyde park avenue not long after the crash. The damage clear, the officer involved doing better after being rushed to tampa general injured. Air bags on both vehicles did deploy. Investigators telling us the officer was traveling eastbound on kennedy heading into downtown when the wrongway driver entered his path of travel northbound from the South Hyde Park avenue. Thats when the two vehicles collided. South hyde park avenue is clearly marked as a oneway street. This morning investigators still trying to determine why that driver was coming down the wrong way. They hit this walmart on south florida avenue two times making off with carpels of expensive electronics. They are not your average shoplifters. These seven people are looking at decades behind bars for racketeering. They are experienced criminals and organize to steal. Reporter they are accused of running an electronic theft ring. Boldly walking out with electronics stuffed in bags or sometimes more sneaky. They would put them in boxes of diapers and fell the box back. They would go through and scan the box for the diaper cost, put it in the bag and walk out of the store. Reporter and then turn around and sell it. 178,000 worth of merchandise total. Your kids, you know, they are in school and you expect them to be safe and you have teacher predators. Meyers wife teaches Language Arts at the school and is pregnant. They have 3 children. Sadly he has a wife here and children. It is kind of disappointing that he did Something Like this. There are strong words from a miamidade spokesperson said who the alleged actions by a teacher are unacceptable and reprehensible. The teacher will be terminated. What upsets you . He is a teacher so we have to have some respect for the students. In court, meyers attorney said he was a School Teacher for 15 years, had served in the military, and had no prior charges. But a judge increased the bond to 75,000. Reporter that judge in court said when meyers gets out of jail he will have to wear a monitor and have no contact with the 17yearold girl.
