While Gov. Ned Lamont has focused on improving service along the New Haven and Hartford lines, some lawmakers are seeking money for projects in their backyards.
Lawmakers in Hartford now want to restore Connecticut’s Shore Line East route, and they say they also have plans to add train service to New Milford. It comes along with Governor Lamont’s multi-billion-dollar effort to improve commuter rail service along the New Haven and Hartford lines. Republicans also want to extend the Danbury Branch line to include service to New Milford… a distance of about 15 miles. Bot projects are now part of a new single piece of rail legislation. The Transportation Committee voted unanimously last month to send the bill to the Senate floor.
