A Minnesota Department of Health audit of long-term care facilities required that previously unreported numbers be added to the state s COVID-19 case and death totals Tuesday.
According to the health department, the numbers are from facilities that are using and have received antigen-testing machines from the federal government or the state, and do not need lab testing.
Facilities that use lab testing to get COVID-19 test results have their numbers reported to the state by the labs themselves.
St. Louis County reported on Tuesday 117 more cases and 18 more deaths due to COVID-19. None of the 18 deaths occurred in March, according to county spokesperson Dana Kazel. The two most recent reported deaths of the 18 occurred in January.
