Rhode Island plays host to presidents, vice presidents NBC 10 NEWS Replay Video UP NEXT Vice President Kamala Harris and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo will visit Providence on Wednesday to promote small businesses.  Rhode Island has played host many times to presidents and vice presidents over the years. Joe Biden made several stops in Rhode Island while he was vice president. In May 2016, Biden and then-governor Raimondo discussed the RhodeWorks highway initiative. Biden famously remarked on the Lincoln Logs holding up a bridge. The former vice president also came by in 2018 to support the local delegation in the mid-terms, and he attended a Providence fundraiser in 2019 while running for president.

PROVIDENCE, RI A longtime figure of the Rhode Island news media has died. Bill Rappleye died Thursday following a battle with cancer, according to those closest to him. The news was first reported by Michelle San Miguel, Rappleye s PBS colleugue and a former WJAR employee, as well. The news of Rappleye s death prompted an outpouring of support from his former NBC 10 colleagues, political figures and other Rhode Island journalists.
