The attorney for Jacob William Gentry-Cape, who is accused of firing a handgun at a federal building last November, filed a petition requesting a fitness to proceed examination for his client. The request was filed as the attorney, Deputy Public Defender Dan Hancock, has good cause to believe that there is a reasonable suspicion that Gentry-Cape is not fit to proceed to trial. The court approved the petition and Judge John Putnam signed the Order for Fitness Proceed Exam last month. The exam will be conducted under the direction of the Director of the Division of Behavioral Health Services of the Department of Human Services.
