Mike Grundy Set to Come Back at UFC 262
Mike Grundy’s wrestling background would have been obvious to even the most casual fans who watched him face Damien Frankiewicz on the preliminary card of BAMMA 21.
Grundy charged Frankiewicz and took him down just 30 seconds into the first round. Relentless when on top, Grundy was able to easily shrug off a triangle attempt by his opponent. After successfully nullifying an attempt by his opponent to get back to his feet, Grundy slammed him straight back to the canvas and entered side control once again. He transitioned straight to an arm-triangle choke and ended the fight with a minute left in the first round.
The Weekend in Scraps: UFC Fight Night 118, Bellator 185 and the Eddie Bravo Invitational
Every Monday, the Combat Press staff gathers its thoughts on the previous weekend’s fights and fight news. This feature isn’t a recap and it isn’t an editorial, but rather a bit of both worlds. We’ll scour the best from the combat-sports landscape and deliver it, with some commentary, right here. Let’s get started…

Although many will point to Darren Till’s first-round finish of Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118 as the biggest story of the weekend, there was something else that took place in Gdansk, Poland, that deserves some attention. Both the main and co-main event featured significant size discrepancies between the fighters in the cage. No, this isn’t a rant about the issues with weight-cutting (that’s for another time), but rather a plea for the UFC to adopt the additional weight classes that the ABC has approved as well as some of those that already exist wome
What are you going to do this Memorial Day weekend, besides hopefully enjoy a day off on Monday? The obvious answer is to spend the day honoring the fallen members of our nation’s military, as you should. But before that, you can spend your weekend watching yet another UFC Fight Night card.
The UFC was merciful to us on the East Coast of the United States and decided to air UFC Fight Night 109 at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 28. Much of this has to do with the card taking place in Stockholm, Sweden, of course. This particular card boasts a main event of Sweden’s favorite son, Alexander Gustafsson, against Brazil’s Glover Teixeira in a pivotal light heavyweight division match-up.

UFC veteran Brian Kelleher showed off the brutal cut he sustained on his forehead in his unanimous decision loss to Ricky Simon at UFC 258.
Kelleher moved up to 145lbs for the short-notice fight with Simon for this past weekend’s UFC 258 card. He lost a decision at the end of 15 minutes on the judges’ scorecards, with Simon controlling the majority of the bout with his wrestling. At one point during the match, Kelleher received a nasty cut to the middle of his forehead. It wasn’t bad enough to stop the fight, but it looks like Kelleher needed to get some stitches to fix the cut. Check out the cut photo that Kelleher shared with his followers on his social media.
