OTHELLO While there have been high-profile incidents and arrests within the last year, gang activity in Othello seems to be decreasing.
“I don’t want to say our gang problem has gone away, but we’ve seen a decrease recently,” said Othello Police Department Detective Steven Perez. “We used to meet once a month with the (Othello) School District, however, the last six months or so I think we had about two (meetings).”
RITZVILLE – Adams County Sheriff Dale Wagner met with the Adams County Commissioners Tuesday to discuss the requirements to re-open the Adams County Jail and make improvements beyond the basic facility needs.
“You guys know the conditions. You know the things that are needed to be fixed. Part of the thing that I wanted to discuss today is where the board feels like we need to go next with the facility. I know the things are going to be worked on,” said Wagner. “I would like to see at least some ideas of the projects that the commissioners and the facilities managers want to do in the jail so we can at least get started on those things.” .
OTHELLO Axel Andersson said his travels on a bike, which brought him and his dad Eric to Othello Thursday, started with a dilemma back in 2018.
“It was after my first year in university, and I didn’t know what to do during the summer,” he said. “So I said, ‘I’m going to bike through Sweden.’ And the longest I’ve ever biked before that, I think, was seven miles or something like that.” .
OTHELLO – The Adams County Sheriff’s Department partnered with the Othello Police Department to host a National Night Out event Saturday evening at the Othello Columbia Basin Health Association Clinic.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office Administrative Assistant Sandra Gomez led the Sheriff’s Office’s coordination of the event.
