To prevent the destruction of green cover for infrastructure, residents of the city today protested the decision of the UT Administration to axe 700 trees for the construction of a flyover at the Tribune Chowk. ‘Show of solidarity’
“The protest was a show of solidarity by the people of Chandigarh to stop the cutting of “only” 700 trees. Flyovers have never been a solution to traffic problem,” said Paveela Bali, who had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, on behalf of her NGO, The Run Club, against the cutting of the trees for the flyover project.
