The North Dakota Industrial Commission has approved increases in income and acquisition limits related to North Dakota Housing Finance Agency mortgage loan financing.
This change will help eliminate barriers and allow more North Dakotans to purchase a home, and encourage community stability, said members of the Commission in a joint statement.
Rental costs increased 49% between 2010 and the end of 2020, hitting lower-income North Dakotans the hardest, according to a state housing needs assessment.
People cannot be denied a place to live based on their race or disability in Michigan, but some are being turned down based on where they get the money to pay their rent. Veterans using assistance, retirees on Social Security, parents who get child support or families who use housing vouchers are not protected by anti-discrimination laws. All can be denied rental opportunities even though they have consistent income. .
