Equity indices rebounded sharply on Thursday after sliding for the past two sessions. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 405 points to settle at 65,631, while Nifty advanced 109 points to end at 19,545.
Stocks that were in focus included names like Nestle India, which rose 3.03%, Maruti, which fell 1.96%, and Coal India, whose shares declined 1.34% on Wednesday.
With order books at probably the highest levels in recent years, market participants are willing to ignore record-high valuations in many of these stocks. L&T remains the top pick of analysts. Others include KNR Infra, NCC, Ashoka Buildcon, KEC International, and Kalpataru.
Stocks that were in focus included names like Eicher Motors, which fell 2.68%, Network 18, which rose 8.07%, and Escorts, whose shares declined 1.73% on Tuesday.
