CODEPINK Delivers Petition - CODEPINK - Women for Peace

By Madison Tang This past Sunday, July 11, 2021, CODEPINK, Pivot to Peace, Veterans for Peace East Bay, RootsAction.org, World Beyond War, and local constituent antiwar activists rallied at the residence of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood. The coalition delivered CODEPINK s letter demanding that she block a vote on Gregory Meeks’ H.R. 3524, also known as the EAGLE Act, unless its military funding for the Asia-Pacific region and antagonistic rhetoric toward China are removed. Rousing speeches from CODEPINK cofounder Jodie Evans, Pivot to Peace cofounder Judge Julie Tang, and Veterans for Peace San Francisco Vice President and cofounder of Pivot to Peace Michael Wong emphasized that China Is Not Our Enemy and that the U.S. s hybrid war on China will have catastrophic consequences for billions of people and the planet, all while weapons manufacturers continue to reap the profits.

Rally to Stop the Saudi-US War on Yemen!

Join outside the Federal Building! We are calling for the United States and Saudi Arabia to end their war on Yemen - which is killing a child of Yemen every 75 second! The Saudi blockade is killing civilians and the U.S. is not only complicit, but aiding Saudi in it. Congress can end the blockade and all U.S. participation in the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. In response, a nationwide coalition formed and has initiated a national letter campaign urging organizations to sign onto a letter addressed to Representatives from 9 key states that state: Congress must pressure the Biden administration to use its vast leverage over the Saudis to prompt them to end the blockade.

Peace and Planet: Shareholder Advocacy

BlackRock, the world s largest asset management company, released a statement indicating that it would like companies to implement and disclose their human rights processes to identify, manage, and prevent adverse human rights impacts. Like BlackRock s statement, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin s proposals request that the companies produce a human rights impact assessment report. In contrast, the PNC proposal asks for assessing risks associated with financing the nuclear weapons industry. As a top ten shareholder in all three companies, BlackRock plays an essential role in leveraging its power by voting to support these resolutions.  We called on BlackRock to hold themselves accountable and demonstrate their commitment to human rights by voting yes on the resolutions. We generated over 2 thousand emails asking them to do so.
