CHICAGO White Sox manager Tony La Russa called together a group of six or seven veteran players near the end of Spring Training to talk about the team.
Let’s call them the squad’s unofficial leadership council, with right-handed reliever Evan Marshall part of this group. Marshall didn’t divulge the rest of the participants, but added it was the players you would expect to be there.
“Tony said, I want you guys to manage the clubhouse, manage the team. I want to call the plays, ” Marshall told MLB.com. “ I want to worry about baseball. If I see something I don’t like, I’ll let you guys know, and you guys take care of it from there.

Shortstop Tim Anderson is not expected to play in the three-game series that opened Monday in Seattle after he pulled up lame with a tight hamstring in Sunday night’s game against the Angels.
Just how long the Sox star will be out is not known. The team was awaiting results of an MRI Monday night.
“I don’t want to go on the DL, nobody does,” Anderson said. “I’m trying to avoid that but being smart. If I need to I’m open for it even though I don’t want to. Try to get healthy and play it smart.”

ANAHEIM, Calif. Shortstop Tim Anderson left the White Sox’ game against the Angels Sunday night with left hamstring tightness after running out a ground ball to open the game.
In the bottom of the first inning, Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani homered on the first pitch he saw from Sox right-hander Dylan Cease in a two-run inning.
Not the start the Sox were looking for trying to gain a split of their season-opening series against the Angels at Angel Stadium.
Anderson is day to day after coming up sore while running out a grounder to second baseman David Fletcher. The ball Ohtani hit, 451 feet at 115.2 mph, is out for the season.
