continue to have strong work being done by the senate intelligence committee. i believe the senate judiciary committee is going to reengage and will investigate further. we ve also seen action in a subcommittee of appropriations and on foreign relations. so, i m encouraged that you ve got republicans and democrats working together, across a range of issues, and that there is broad support for bob mueller, as special counsel. so i think that is going to continue to move forward. there s a great deal of smoke. there is not yet, clearly, fire. but the fact that the president has gone back on to twitter and is now dedicating his time to trying to distract the american people or to denigrate this investigation is really not wise. any criminal defense counsel s first piece of advice is to shut up, to folks that they represent. and so i m sure that president trump s personal is probably frustrated at the frequency with which he s taking to twitter to express his views on this ongoing investig
her grandson. attorneys are saying it could go on until august. tori, thanks very much. let s bring in former lawyer for michael jackson, thomas messirow. did you have a clue about how much michael jackson spoke to his children. how much he confided to his children about what was going on? yes, i did, wolf. wolf, i became his lead criminal defense counsel nine months before the criminal trial started. i replaced attorneys brafman and geragos, i observed his interaction with his children, as well as the succeeding five and a half months of trial. he was constantly with his children. his days revolved around his children. he was very protective, very doting. he played with them. he read with them. he taught them. he was very protective that they not be exposed to media influences, to anything that would complicate their life or cause undue conflict in the home. he was a very devoted father.
so i think this issue is well founded by the siblings and i think it s going to be a big issue for the plaintiffs. and i think aeg will have a tough time explaining it. aeg s lawyer said it was the 2005 child molestation trial which you obviously were involved in which caused michael to dramatically increase his drug use. do you think there s any truth in that? i really don t. now, i was his lead criminal defense counsel in that trial. i talked to him throughout the trial. he was lucid he was articulate, he was cooperative. i never had a problem working with michael. my co-counsel both thought he was one of the nicest clients we ever represented. and i did not see drug use as a problem during the trial. now, the verdict day, he didn t look well, i will say that. he had been through over five months of trial, all the stress and strain, we were in court five days a week, and i do think that he suffered physically and emotionally during the trial. but i never saw him take a prescripti
