"Thousands of 16 and 17 year olds are at risk of not having their say on 6th May" as not registered to vote

Posted: Fri 16th Apr 2021 “Thousands of 16 and 17 year olds are at risk of not having their say on 6th May” as not registered to vote Early registration figures for next month’s Senedd election have shown thousands of 16 and 17 year olds are still not registered to vote- just days from the voter registration deadline. Figures collected by the Electoral Reform Society from six of Wales’ local authorities show a “postcode lottery” on voter registration, with an estimated 33% of 16 and 17 year olds registered in Swansea compared with an estimated 65% in the Vale of Glamorgan. The Senedd and Police and Crime Commissioner Elections on May 6 will be the first time that those aged 16 and 17 will be able to vote.

Matt Hancock slaps down Neil Ferguson over speeding up roadmap

Advertisement Boris Johnson today hit back at Tories and scientists suggesting lockdown could ease faster - as Wales and Scotland warned his roadmap might be too quick. The PM said he was being sensible and prudent with his four-stage plan after attacks on the approach from both sides.  Some people will say we re going to be going too fast, some people will say we re going too slow, he said on a visit to a school in South London.  Mr Johnson refused to guarantee that all restrictions will definitely be lifted by June 21 as scheduled, but insisted he was hopeful it can happen.
