i just wanted to get my grade. i just wanted to pass. rick, he says terrible things, i agree. there is a first amendment, including a first amendment to be stupid even a first amendment to be racist and accuse people falsely of it. i mean, it s ugly. you know, the fact that we re talking about state universities makes it a little bit more damning in that you have taxpayer funds that are supporting it. i tend to agree that most of the students in that class are able to, i would hope, at the age of 18, 19, 20, whatever, filter out any opinions to their professor and realize what it was. i had conservative professors and liberal professors it is exchange of ideas. this is particularly sharper. this is stronger and sharper than you would expect to hear and certainly in a creative writing class. to me it s sort of like what we said here. that it s taking the cues from the national leaders. there has been a coordinated effort to talk about republicans as racists, at the very top leve
don t understand politics necessarily. as i said it s a creative writing class. that was one heck of a creative lecture. caleb, thank you. our political panel is back. all right. jason, what do you think? i think the professor is taking his cues from president obama and attorney general eric holder. who are pretty much out there saying the same thing. a little more polished but essentially the same thing. they are lying to certain groups, certain parts of their base in hopes of scaring them to the polls in november. lying to blacks about voter suppression. lying to women about sexism driving the gender pay gap and so forth. obama and holder went up to harlem to kiss can al sharpton s ring saying this in front of a black audience about whites, about conservatives. al sharpton is perhaps the most racially polarizing figure in this country. and here they were, countenancing the types of activism that al sharpton is doing. i don t think the professor is saying much different than thank
it as well? you certainly want the kids to be disciplined so they re successful but you don t want to yooefr overwhelm them. i taught spanish. there s a place for that. but not at the expense of understanding what you re actually doing and what s really interesting about the guy that wrote the article i atlantic and tried to do his kid s homework, he realizes he s pressured for time and he starts repeating stuff that he s not processing. i ve tut arored kids for a long time and as an adult, what i try to do is get kids to sit and think about what they re doing and they panic and say to me, but i don t have time for this. i don t have time to understand. and that s why our kids are lagging behind. they re not really taking the time to understand what s happening. and i think also there needs to be a role for them to do outside activities, to take a creative writing class, take an art class. that s how they figure out what they love and what they re passionate about and what they re
north of detroit. 57-year-old guy is taking a class, right? he s asked to write an essay, and he writes an essay that gets him thrown out of the school. what was the essay? he was in a creative writing class. he had to write in his journal every day. he wrote about his teacher. this is a family show, so ien cat say everything he said. was the essay obscene? yes, it was very obscene. he mentioned the teacher in ways that were offensive? the teacher gets the essay, hands it over to school authorities and they kick him out? and he sues the school. and he loses. and he loses because he s alone, is that it? because he s a lusty loan, the school doesn t like it, you don t have first amendment and 14th amendment rights to be able to write lewd and lascivious
