New Bedford Latin King member sentenced up to 40 months in prison

Standard-Times BOSTON A member of the New Bedford Chapter of the Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation (“Latin Kings”) was sentenced Wednesday for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition following an investigation into an armed robbery in New Bedford and a shooting in Boston in April 2020.   Ramon Martinez, also known as “King Razor,” 26, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper to 40 months in prison and three years of supervised release, according to a news release from the state’s U.S. Attorney’s Office. In November 2020, Martinez pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

New Bedford Latin King Sentenced for Possessing Firearm BOSTON A member of the New Bedford chapter of the Latin Kings gang was sentenced to prison yesterday for being a felon in possession of a firearm as part of an investigation into an armed robbery in New Bedford and a shooting in Boston. Ramon Martinez, a.k.a. “King Razor,” 26, was sentenced to 40 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty back in November to being a felon in possession of a firearm, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Martinez was identified as one of two men who got out of a black Ford Fusion and robbed an individual in New Bedford on April 30, 2020, when they put a knife to his back and stole his wallet and motorized scooter.

New Bedford Fires Not Related, Chief Kruger Says New Bedford crews battled five major fires in seven days, and one of the fires is being investigated as arson. However, there is no evidence that the fires are related, according to Acting Fire Chief Scott Kruger. There have been several major fires lately in our city besides this one but there is no connection between them, Kruger was quoted in a Jan. 29 statement sent from the Office of State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey announcing a determination that the Jan. 27 fire at 124 Bonney had been intentionally set. Kruger provided WBSM News with an update on the status of the five fire investigations:
