Vision for new sports centre and elite training base for St Helens rugby league

St Helens Borough Council says it is keen to explore how the ageing Parr Swimming and Fitness centre – which was forced to close its pools in November 2019 due to structural issues – could be replaced.
Among those to lend a helping hand in the operation was St Cuthbert’s cleaning legend, Lil Mea, who returned to her old stomping ground, where she gave 40 years’ service, to assist with the roll out of more than 900 tests. SCHOOLS across St Helens have come in for high praise after carrying out thousands of Covid tests ahead of more pupils returning to onsite education this week. With support from community volunteers and St Helens Borough Council through training, schools have completed high-levels of lateral flow symptom-free tests on staff and pupils - with parental consent - to ensure school is as safe as it can be for students to resume face to face learning from today (Monday, March 8).
