I FOUND this cutting from the Southern Daily Echo from December 1973 among my papers and thought the athletes featured would find it amusing.

Meet Hugo and Leo — and find out why they are extra special!

Hugo, left, and Leo Stevens. HUGO and Leo are very special twins indeed. The gorgeous duo were not only unusual for being born on different days either side of midnight but it turned out there was something else against the odds too. Despite being in separate sacs in the womb, the boys turned out to be identical. Their mother is Kirsten Stevens, known as Dolly, who grew up on the Isle of Wight and went to Cowes High School and the Isle of Wight College. She met her husband Craig almost ten years ago in Southampton, and moved to Somerset to live with him in 2013. They married in 2017.

Retired librarian and local author Jean Wheeler dies aged 92

A CHERISHED Isle of Wight author and librarian has died peacefully at the age of 92. Jean Wheeler (nee McInnes) was born on June 22, 1928 in East Cowes to Scottish parents. The family relocated to Southampton in 1935, where her father was a draughtsman at a shipyard. During the Second World War she was evacuated to Bournemouth for a short period prior to the devastating and untimely death of her father in a road accident in 1943. Mrs Wheeler left school at 16 and worked in a dairy, a year later starting work as an assistant librarian at the University College of Southampton. She loved her work, but left in 1950 to marry Ray, an engineering student from the Island, who she had met at the local methodist church social club.
