New Delhi: The European Union s drug regulator on Thursday gave the green light to Pfizer Inc s antiviral COVID-19 pill for treating adults at risk of severe illness, as the region scrambles to boost.
The drug has been given emergency use authorisation by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for treatment of adult patients with COVID-19 and the ones who have a high risk of progression of the disease including hospitalisation.
Addressing a media briefing on Wednesday Dr Balram Bhargava said the pill is not included in the treatment guidelines of the COVID-19 national task force, nor has it been endorsed for treatment by the WHO and the UK.
