Been underway for several days. Just after 9 00 p. M. Eastern the new York City Police department breached Hamilton Hall using a truck with a ramp. That happened almost 24 hours after protesters broke into the building and occupied it. The nypd says Hamilton Hall is now cleared and so is the Tent Encampment on the south lawn of the campus. An nypd spokesperson spoke to nbc news shortly after the officers went in. The building was very heavily fortified. Doorways were blocked by Soda Machines, couches, plywood. So there were rumors that the nypd used tear gas. The nypd does not use tear gas. We use a Distraction Device. It is a device that is thrown and makes a loud bang. A stun grenade. It is a Distraction Device that makes a loud noise. That allowed officers time to get through the barricades. Columbia university formally requested Law Enforcement help earlier this evening. Beginning overnight on the Virginia Tech campus as colleges and universities are following a weekend of propalestinian protests and counter demonstrations across the country. Our Antonia Hylton is on the campus as well as a new report there . We have a new report from the Columbia University who says that they are not going to divest from the businesses who do business with israel, and they have no plans from the students who are going to walk away from the encampment, and the students are inspired from the encampments from across the United States from of course, here in new york, and tennessee and all of the way to california. The students have taken as a message of strength in the movement, and they are clearly sending a message and not just to their respective administrations, but really across the country now. We are seeing the schools handling this very differently, and

The doj sued the state saying the ban violated federal law that makes it mandatory for hospitals to provide emergency medical care. Arguing in some cases abortions are just that, theyre emergency medical care. And that the Legal Standard of quote, good faith medical judgment has proven to be too vague. That lack of a clear standard is exactly what both Justice Sonia sotomayor and Amy Coney Barrett tried to wrestle out of the attorney representing idaho today. Listen. Youre telling me the doctor couldnt have done the abortion earlier . Again, it goes back to whether a doctor can in good faith medical judgment thats a lot for the doctor to risk.
