That familiar old phrase âit costs peanutsâ has lost relevance in todayâs world. I reached this conclusion after paying $11 for a small sack of same to be used for feeding the blue jays, squirrels and chipmunks.
More by accident than design, I have unintentionally created a sub-division of Pictonâs Birdhouse City. In doing so, I discovered that developerâs fees can be substantial. Initially, when I created a small shade garden under three Manitoba maples in my backyard, I had no thoughts of expansion. What began as a cool place to enjoy a hot summerâs day quickly grew, after I planted a row of hostas and a handyman made a short stone wall from rocks along my fence line. It seemed only natural to add a bird feeder and a bird bath to complete this tranquil vista.
