Scattered storms cause flash flooding in Central Virginia NBC12 Newsroom
(WWBT) - Scattered storms moving through the region caused flash flooding around Central Virginia.
Several flood advisories and warnings have been issued due to slow-moving storms. A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Richmond and Chesterfield until at least 8 p.m. NBC12 Meteorologist Megan Wise said 1-2.5 inches of rain have already fallen in some of the highlighted areas below.

PETERSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - A 26-year-old Petersburg man has been arrested for an armed robbery, police say.
On Jan. 28 at approximately 10:52 p.m., officers responded to the 460 Market located in the 2200 block of County Drive for the report of an armed robbery where the suspect also fired a shot.
After the investigation, police say they arrested Davon E. Dawkins, 26, in a hotel room at American Inn located in the 2200 block of County Drive.
Dawkins was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, attempted malicious wounding and discharging a firearm within city limits, according to police.

In an effort to help prevent lung cancer from exposure to radon gas, Walking Mountains Science Center’s Energy Smart Colorado program has partnered with Vail Health’s Shaw Cancer Center and Eagle County’s Environmental Health Department to raise awareness and offer free radon test kits.
January is Radon Action Month and is a time to test homes for radon because windows and doors are typically closed. According to the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, approximately 40% of Eagle County homes have radon gas above the Environmental Protection Agency recommended “action limit.” The EPA’s website states that the normal level of radon found in outside air is around 0.4 pCi/L, and the action limit for radon in a home
