Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced $348,400 has been awarded to 14 rural counties and cities for site preparation projects. The awards are part of Enterprise Florida’s Rural Expansion Toolkit initiative to assist rural communities with broad-based economic engagement and capacity building efforts.
“Many rural communities throughout the state that are seeking to attract investment need just a little bit of assistance to get them to where they want to be,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “From helping with site preparedness to simple marketing, this grant from EFI will help serve that purpose and will have a significant impact.”
To gain a competitive advantage when it comes to business attraction and expansion projects, Enterprise Florida’s Site Preparation Grants will assist Florida’s rural communities with the development and enhancement of sites to make them build ready and competitive for site selection projects.
Construction of the CaptiveAire expansion project is progressing in the Bedford County Business Park. Clark Contractors reports that it is approximately 40% complete. The new 100,000-square-foot building is part of

The Executive Director of the Tyler County Development Authority (TCDA), Eric Peters, has served in his position for 23 years. He was a member of the 1968 graduating class of Sistersville High School and a 1973 graduate of Marshall University earning a degree in advertising and journalism. Thereafter, he obtained his master’s degree in 1976 in Media Production. Following graduation from Marshall, Eric was employed by the West Virginia Development Office in Charleston, WV working at the state capitol building. Eric is a nationally certified Professional Community and Economic Developer, and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute, as well as the WVU Community Development Institute.

WHEELING Ohio County commissioners acted Tuesday to make changes to the County Development Authority, commending some for their service and appointing others in their place.
Commissioners removed former Wheeling Mayor Andy McKenzie from the board, and he will be replaced by current Mayor Glenn Elliott.
“(McKenzie) has been a member of the board for a long time, and I congratulate him for his service,” said Commissioner Randy Wharton, who also serves as OCDA president.
Commissioners next accepted resignations from the OCDA board by former Commissioner Tim McCormick and former County Administrator Greg Stewart, who has been hired by the OCDA to manage The Highlands property.
