Area COVID-19 numbers continue to drop

Written By: By Julie Buntjer | 11:37 am, Dec. 28, 2020 × REGIONAL The number of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 in the area continues to decline, with just two new cases reported in Nobles County during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Sunday. Meanwhile, Jackson and Murray counties each had one new case and Cottonwood, Pipestone and Rock counties had no new cases, according to this morning’s update from the Minnesota Department of Health. Statewide, another 1,087 Minnesotans tested positive for the novel coronavirus during the 24-hour period. Another 13 deaths were also recorded during the one-day reporting period. These included six individuals who resided in private residences and seven individuals in long-term care facilities. The cumulative death total from the novel coronavirus in Minnesota now stands at 5,160, including 3,339 residents of long-term care facilities.

Jackson County reports eighth COVID-19 death

Latest report is for 48-period ending at 4 p.m. Saturday 11:46 am, Dec. 27, 2020 × REGIONAL Jackson County lost an eighth resident due to complications from COVID-19 during the 48-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Sunday morning s Minnesota Department of Health update. The individual was between the ages of 85-89; no other information is available. Statewide, 40 more deaths were recorded during the two-day reporting period. These included 13 individuals who resided in private residences and 27 individuals in long-term care facilities. The cumulative death total from the novel coronavirus in Minnesota now stands at 5,147, including 3,332 residents of long-term care facilities. Meanwhile, another 2,534 Minnesotans tested positive for the novel coronavirus during the 48-hour period. Fewer area residents testing positive for the novel coronavirus. 11:21 am, Dec. 23, 2020 × REGIONAL Six new deaths attributed to complications from COVID-19 were reported in area counties during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to this morning’s update from the Minnesota Department of Health. Pipestone County lost three more residents, including one aged 60-64, one aged 70-74 and one aged 80-84. Cottonwood County reported two additional deaths, including one aged 80-84 and one aged 90-94. Nobles County recorded one new death in an individual aged 85-89. No other information is available. Statewide, 75 more deaths were recorded during the one-day reporting period. These included 27 individuals who resided in private residences, 45 individuals in long-term care facilities, and three individuals in group homes or behavioral health facilities. Nobles, Jackson counties each add five COVID-19 cases

No new cases of novel coronavirus in Pipestone County 11:42 am, Dec. 22, 2020 × REGIONAL Nobles County and Jackson County each recorded five new cases of COVID-19, according to this morning’s update from the Minnesota Department of Health. Murray County added four new cases of the novel coronavirus, while Cottonwood and Rock counties each added two. Pipestone County had no new reported cases. Another 1,714 more Minnesotans tested positive for the novel coronavirus during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m Monday. The state’s cumulative total of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases stands at 401,011 (positive tests and antigen tests), with 376,354 beyond the 10-day isolation period. Thus far, 30,783 Minnesota health care workers have contracted the novel coronavirus.
