Two Uptown stalwarts are supporting New York state Sen. Brad Hoylman as he’s opening a Harlem office for his Manhattan borough president run, an effort to make inroads into a rival’s turf.
Former Gov. David Patterson, who’s been based in Harlem, and Manhattan Democratic Party Chairman Keith Wright, who long represented Harlem in the state Assembly, endorsed Hoylman for Manhattan BP on Thursday.
“I’m backing Brad Hoylman because of his track record of consistently delivering results for New Yorkers in the state Senate, where he has tirelessly delivered on criminal justice reform and fought to make housing more affordable,” Patterson said in a statement. “He’ll continue to deliver for Manhattan as its borough president.”

It s gotten easier to get a coronavirus vaccine appointment in New York City. Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi says people who have been frustrated trying to get a vaccine appointment online will likely have an easier time now.
“Appointments that were being snapped up literally within seconds of them being posted. There is now a longer window, not too long, hours or in some cases a day or two before they get filled.”
He and the mayor are hoping this will also convince some people who were hesitant to get the vaccine. The head of the city’s health committee, Councilman Mark Levine tweeted, “Our challenge is no longer managing the crush of demand. It s building trust in this life-saving solution.”
