Rogue landlords in Coventry could be handed fines of up to £30,000 for a wider range of breaches in tougher rules approved by city councillors.
An updated Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy was approved by cabinet on Tuesday, February 16, to help improve housing standards.
The new version will allow the council to issue civil penalties for a wider range of breaches, including against landlords who have acted irresponsibly against tenants or who have failed in maintaining legal standards for housing.
The new policy will also enable enforcement actions on letting agents.
