Ascension Parish government leaders are looking into a new taxing district for the Geismar and Darrow areas, where much of the industrial sector is located, to improve the road system.
BATON ROUGE- Development of the new Amazon facility is in full swing where the old Cortana Mall was located. The Amazon s Development Manager told the Baton Rouge Rotary Club that the site will also be somewhere where people can earn money after decades of spending dollars there.
Applications for state jobs have fallen 52 percent over the past two years and reflect a similar problem in the private sector. The state Civil Service Commission has sought permission to boost starting pay to blunt the trend.
