The Monsters beat the Toronto Marlies, 3-2, on Dec. 27 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, and in doing so three different players tallied goals and four others contributed with assists. Left winger James Malatesta scored two goals, and the Monsters had no problem with visiting Belleville, 5-1, on Dec. 14. Malatesta, a 2021 fifth-round pick, has seven goals this season. Marcus Bjork added a power-play goal, and Roman Ahcan and Corson Ceulemans each tallied once. Hunter McKown had four assists. Jet Greaves made 33 saves. The Monsters held Belleve to 0 of 3 on power plays. Cleveland (15-7-1-0) was playing its first home game in 11 days. The victory ended a two-game skid.
