The hero of Hotel Rwanda is facing prosecution - who is he and what do we know?

Paul Rusesabagina s actions during the Rwandan genocide in 1994 are believed to have saved more than 1,200 lives. He was arrested last year in Rwanda after mysteriously disappearing during a visit to Dubai. Who is Paul Rusesabagina and why is he famous? Mr Rusesabagina is the main character in the 2004 film Hotel Rwanda which won critical acclaim and portrays his actions during the Rwandan genocide. In just 100 days in 1994, about 800,000 people were slaughtered in the central African country by ethnic Hutu extremists.

Doctors and healthcare professionals in the city are stretched desperately thin due to the crippling impact Covid-19 has had on its population. Although research suggests around 76% of the city s 2.2 million population were infected with the virus during the first wave, there are fears among experts that the new Brazilian variant may be reinfecting the city. Love Island star Zara Holland avoids jail after Barbados Covid-19 rule breach

Love Island star Zara Holland has avoided jail after breaching Covid-19 regulations in Barbados. The former model and Miss Great Britain, from Hull, appeared in a magistrates court on the island on Wednesday charged with breaching quarantine rules. The reality show star received a £4,417 fine ($12,000 Barbados dollars) for breaching quarantine rules despite a tourist from Jamaica being jailed for six months last week for a less serious offence. The 25-year-old appeared on ITV s hit reality show in 2016. Zara Holland appeared on Love Island in 2016 and went on to launch a fashion boutique. Credit: ITV Royal Barbados Police Force said the star was tested for coronavirus on 28 December, the day after she arrived on the Caribbean island.
