Lansing, Mich.- Today Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a proclamation declaring May 2 to May 8, 2021 as Correctional Officer Week in Michigan. This week, we recognize the thousands of corrections professionals in Michigan for their work and all that they do to keep inmates safe, Gov. Whitmer said. Thank you for your professionalism and service to our state.
There are more than 6,400 correctional officers serving in the state of Michigan. These corrections professionals maintain the safety of Michigan correctional facilities and ensure the health and well-being of those incarcerated, while also protecting Michigan communities.
