An outpouring of tributes has followed the death, at the age of 95, of former Australian diplomat Richard Woolcott.
Gordon Copeland was 22 years old when he ran from police and fell into the flooded Gwydir River in north-west New South Wales. The coroner says "mistakes were made" in dealing with his family after his death.
A coronial inquest hears that the 41-year-old man was left by police on his parents' doorstep against their wishes in 2019, where he was later found dead from acute alcohol intoxication.
