SAO PAULO, May 19 (Xinhua) Sao Paulo, the Brazilian state hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, on Wednesday announced it will extend a nighttime curfew to curb the transmission of COVID-19 but will relax restrictions on businesses starting June 1. We are moving forward, but with caution and with prudence, and recommending that people continue to respect social distancing as restrictions are eased, Governor Joao Doria said at a press conference.
The most populous state in Brazil, with 46 million inhabitants, has been in lockdown since March 8, when the hospital system collapsed in most parts of the country, and has been gradually relaxing restrictions since the end of April.
MORROW â Clayton State University is preparing for a full reopening of its campuses for the fall 2021 semester. Students and employees will be welcomed back as normal operations will resume.
âIn the face of dramatic increases in the availability of vaccines and significant reductions in viral transmissions in vaccinated populations, we are confident that fall 2021 will look very much like fall semesters before the pandemic. As was the case this year, faculty, staff and student groups will continue to monitor health conditions and be prepared to adapt to those conditions as needed,â said Dr. Tim Hynes, president of Clayton State University.
