CHP responds to fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 44 in Redding
A person was killed Sunday in a motorcycle crash on Highway 44 in Redding.
The person who died has not yet been identified by officials. The crash was first reported around 2:40 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol dispatch communications.
According to dispatchers, the motorcyclist hit a guard rail on an overpass and went over the side of the elevated roadway, landing below by Continental Street in downtown Redding.
Around 3:05 p.m., officials requested the coroner s office respond. Parts of Highway 44 and Continental Street were closed while authorities were at the scene and later reopened, according to CHP dispatch.
